Ceiling Fan Power Consumption

Ceiling Fan Power Consumption is the draw in watts of the ceiling fan on the highest speed excluding the light fixture. Most fans that fall within the lower wattage categories draw little to no power and are typically an energy star rated ceiling fan or a DC Motor ceiling fan.

Energy Star

Energy Star Ceiling Fans

Energy Star products meet governmental standards for high energy efficiency. The specifications for ceiling fans are based on the power usage necessary for a specific amount of airflow at different fan speeds. Many of these fans have earned the Energy Star due to improved blade and motor designs.

Light kits with the Energy Star provide exceptional features while using less energy. An Energy Star ceiling fan/light kit combination can be 50% more efficient than regular ceiling fans with attached lights.

20 - 35 watts

20 to 35 Watt Ceiling Fans

The most energy efficient ceiling fans on the market. Typically Energy Star and/or DC Motor ceiling fans are going to be found in this category. These fans consume drastically less energy than other ceiling fans on the market.

35 - 50 watts

35 to 50 Watt Ceiling Fans

35 to 50 Watt Ceiling Fans exclude a majority of the energy star ceiling fans but include some of the most energy efficient 40" - 48" ceiling fans in the industry based on their motor size ran at the highest speed.

50 - 65 watts

50 to 65 Watt Ceiling Fans

50 to 65 Watt Ceiling Fans exclude a majority of the energy star ceiling fans but include some of the most energy efficient 52" - 58" ceiling fans in the industry based on their motor size ran at the highest speed.

65 - 80 watts

65 to 80 Watt Ceiling Fans

65 to 80 Watt Ceiling Fans exclude a majority of the energy star ceiling fans but include some of the most energy efficient 52" - 60" ceiling fans in the industry based on their motor size ran at the highest speed. Most fans on the market fall within this category.

80 - 95 watts

80 to 95 Watt Ceiling Fans

Some of the more common 60" and greater ceiling fans can be found in this category. Due to the larger sized motors being ran at high speed they will typically draw 80 to 95 watts.

95 - 110 watts

95 to 110 Watt Ceiling Fans

Not too many ceiling fans in the industry draw this much wattage but the ones that do are truly unique and high-end ceiling fans. It does take power to get some of these truly great ceiling fans up and running.
